Soil Reports

Completed two soil tests this Spring!IMG_0666
I LOVE my fancy new soil probe…makes it so much easier!
The soil tests are similar to what we had last July, and generally, we are low in nitrogen, sulfur, boron, copper and calcium; and high in potassium, phosphorus, zinc and iron. The soil overall is good with a pH of 6.7, CEC of 10.8 and organic matter of 3%. We are looking at adding gypsum, borax and copper sulfate.

The heavy metals test was a one time test just to make sure we didn’t have any strange toxicity we didn’t know about. Yet, the low molybdenum and absent selenium are cause for concern for grazing animals. We will do a tissue test in the summer to see what nutrients are actually making it into the plants.
